IFToMM high officers will deal with these issues in a small group of people with strong confidentiality.

Composition and tasks of a EC sub-Commission

 

  • Composition: an EC member (acting as Chair), one independent topic expert and one expert from the TC (whom the EC members will seek for this)
  • Task: to investigate the cases of suspected plagiarism and incorrect ethical behavior within IFToMM Bodies

 

Procedure

 

  1. The President will designate an EC member willing to chair the sub-commission.
  2. The chair of the sub-commission will:
  3. Contact plaintiff to ask if case is still to proceed.
  4. Determine what exactly is the complaint.
  5. If the issue still proceeds, the President may ask the chair of the sub-commission to suggest another EC member to help with the case.
  6. The EC members in the sub-commission will, INDEPENDENTLY from the rest of the EC, select two other members for the sub-commission as expert in topics of the dispute in agreement with the conditions that were established for the EC sub-commission. It will be up to their discretion who these two people will be but are asked to ensure there will be no conflict of interest in the rest of the proceedings as well as that they seek experts from the subject area.
  7. The chair of the sub-commission will report to the EC the names of the two additional members to the EC for the IFToMM records with high confidentiality. The EC will NOT need to approve the new members as the EC is to be independent of the procedures. From then on, the sub-commission will work independently and report to the EC only relevant points as necessary until issue reaches a conclusion. The sub-commission will be trusted on contacting the people involved and reach an un-bias decision in this delicate matter. A final report will be treated very confidentially within the EC.
  8. In the case of the plagiarism case or unethical behavior being confirmed, then the sub-commission will recommend any possible action taken by the IFToMM or corresponding PC/TC.
  9. In the case of the plagiarism case or unethical behavior being confirmed and incorrect behavior of the PC/TC in treating internally the case, then the sub-commission will recommend any possible action taken by the IFToMM or corresponding TC.
  10. In the case that plagiarism or unethical behavior is not confirmed, then any allegations against PC/TC members and/or chair would need to be handled and action towards the corresponding TC members and/or chair will have to be decided in consultation between the EC members in the sub-commission and the EC as a whole.
